MUSC Longford @OT 25/26 Vol3

02/05/2026

As MUSC Longford prepare to travel across the water to take in the latest edition of our fierce rivalry against the red half of  merseyside, we look back on our last trip to Old Trafford for an encounter with Fulham.

There are so many things that make it great to be a Manchester United supporter, right up there is a last minute goal and of course victory against bitter rivals Liverpool.

Our Supporters Club were treated to the former the last time we visited The Theatre of Dreams so here's hoping that we get to witness the latter this time round.

One member, Cody, who has been a regular at Old Trafford in recent years gives his take on all things MUFC & MUSC Longford;-

This season I've been to OT for the visits of Sunderland, Fulham, Brentford and now the game this weekend versus Liverpool.

Since Carrick took over the atmosphere has been electric, also for Casemiro and Mainoo and Bruno whenever they are on the the ball the whole stadium would be on their feet, after finishing so low last season expectations were high from us fans. And quite honestly I’m more than happy with the progress. Getting the Mainoo deal done was a big plus. Casemiro leaving will be hard on the club...

Best thing about being a United fan— Supporting them through the good and the bad to be honest you have ups and downs. But always support them the same. Last season was tough but this season we’ve been brilliant (poor in some games but the lack of fixtures has part to play on that also).

Another thing is the United family we have in our own club. Its a real good community and the trips are fantastic!

As always there is one man responsible for ensuring our trips run smoothly, for making sure all tickets make there way onto our Apps and for dotting all the I's and crossing all the T's and that's our Secretary, Kevin who was on hand to savour all the weekend had to offer, which included the dramatic matchday performance during MUSC Longfords last outing to The Theatre of Dreams;-

Man Utd v Fulham

February Bank Holiday: Darts, Drama, and Fergie Time:

Every February, we gear up for our popular three-day club trip. It’s easily one of my favorites of the year, mostly because it’s a proper family affair. This time was no different, with the Carberrys, Keenans, Conlons, Lees, and Kings all on the coach to mention a few.

Mother Nature was actually on our side for once! We dodged the usual February washouts and storms and arrived on schedule Friday. A massive shout-out to John for getting us all there in one piece—his driving is arguably more reliable than the United defense, thankfully!

The "Luke Littler" Warm-up

The Village Hotel has made some upgrades lately, but none better than the newly installed dartboards. Naturally, the doubles teams formed faster than a VAR review. We had the Carberrys, Conlons, Keenans, and Lees stepping up to the oche.
What started as "friendly banter" quickly escalated. As soon as a few Luke Littler-style finishes started hitting the board, the jokes stopped and the "mental concentration" took over. The intensity was palpable—a sign of the heart-rate-spiking drama we were in for the rest of the weekend.

Match Day: The Old Trafford Rollercoaster:

Coming off some massive results, spirits were sky-high, but Fulham arrived to Old Trafford looking dangerous. United started with a point to prove, but the drama began early: a VAR kerfuffle in the 18th minute saw the ref’s penalty decision overturned. Typical!
However, we didn't have to wait long. A trademark Bruno Fernandes set-piece found Casemiro, who powered home a bullet header. Fulham had their chances, but Lammens was a wall in goal, keeping us ahead going into the break

The Second Half Chaos:

56th Minute: More brilliant link-up play from Casemiro set up Cunha, who rifled a finish into the net. 2-0 United. We were cruising... or so we thought.
68th Minute: Fulham had a goal ruled out for offside. The warning signs were flashing red.
83rd Minute: The tension peaked when Harry Maguire conceded a penalty. Raul Jiménez stepped up and coolly dispatched it. 2-1.
90th Minute: The board went up for 9 minutes of added time. Then, disaster. An untracked run by Fulham’s Kevin Mbabu ended with a rocket into the top corner. 2-2.

The Fergie Time Special

The atmosphere in Old Trafford was deafening. Just when it felt like we’d dropped two points, our Captain stepped up. In the 94th minute, Bruno produced an unbelievable turn and cross to Benjamin Šeško. With one touch and a turn, Šeško unleashed an absolute thunderbolt into the top corner.

Final Score: United 3-2 Fulham

There is no feeling on earth like a last-minute winner at the Stretford End. You can try to describe it, but you really just had to be there,"Unbelievable "

Cheers to a Great Trip

What a way to end the weekend. A huge thank you to everyone who traveled with us. The laughs were constant, the memories are top-tier, and that Fergie Time feeling to finish it all off..GGMU

Another member who is one of the first on the bus more often than not is Jessica, a third generation red.

Jessica who was born into the MUSC Longford family and has been to Old Trafford at least once a year, right up to the last trip which happened to be her 15th birthday trip where she caught Benjamin Sesko's last minute winner and jumped just as high as the man himself, celebrating it with her Mother, Uncle and Grandmother.

A massive thanks goes out to Jessica for all her hard work behind the scenes in the run up to our 30th Anniversary celebrations last year, where she sold an extraordinary amount of raffle tickets which went a long way towards our final charity donations to both St. Christopher's Services and St. Christopher's School.

Excellent work Jessica in tieing our club to the local community as it's never just about the football.
